HEARING AND VISION SCREENING
K, 1st, 3rd, 5th & 7th Grade
Hearing and Vision Screening
K (hearing only), 1st and 3rd: October 27th & October 29th

October 30th (5th Grade) and November 3rd (7th Grade)

Because learning is mostly accomplished through the senses of vision and hearing, screenings help to identify any barriers that would impair a child’s ability to learn.
Early identification and treatment can prevent or at least alleviate many of the problems that result from impaired hearing or vision.
Screening is the most practical approach to identifying children in need of professional services.
If your child is in a grade not currently being screened and you think he/she is having trouble with their vision or hearing please call the nurse’s office at the (763) 477-5846 ext. 3015 and request that your child receive a screening.

WHEN TO STAY HOME?

Is My Child Well Enough to Go to School? Many students and parents are frequently concerned about when students should stay home or attend school. You can expect your child to be ill 5-7 days during a school year. Remember that a child ill with an infectious disease can spread the disease when in contact with others. The following information is intended to help with this decision:
  • If student is absent due to illness, please call the attendance line at your student's school.
  • If student has had a fever of 100 degrees or more, the student should stay home for 24 hours after the temperature returns to normal.
  • If student has vomited or had diarrhea, the student should stay home for 24 hours after the episode.
  • If student has any rash, check with family physician before sending the student to school. A child with an undiagnosed rash will not be allowed to stay in school.
