NEWS ABOUT FLU AND PREVENTION
Flu and cold season is upon us and I would like to take this opportunity to remind Rockford Area families of some important resources and prevention practices to stay healthy this season. The Minnesota Department of Heath advises to guard against this upper respiratory virus the best defense is to get a Flu shot. We have many clinics in our area that provide this vaccine along with the Wellness of Wheels Van that comes into Rockford once a month. For more information about the WOW van please call (763)682-7717 or go to www.co.wright.mn.us and look for their schedule on the right column of their page.
For students who are sick with a fever, cough, or sore throat it is advised that they stay home until they are symptom free for 24 hours. Here at school we encourage our students to do frequent hand washing, cover their cough, and use hand sanitizer. Please continue to reinforce these important health practices with your child. For more information about the flu please click on the "Illness Awareness" folder to the right, or click on the Minnesota Department of Health website: http://www.health.state.mn.us/
If you have any questions regarding the flu please call the Rockford Area School Nurse at (763) 477-7504.
WHEN TO STAY HOME?
Is My Child Well Enough to Go to School? Many students and parents are frequently concerned about when students should stay home or attend school. You can expect your child to be ill 5-7 days during a school year. Remember that a child ill with an infectious disease can spread the disease when in contact with others. The following information is intended to help with this decision:
